Front of House Floor Lead (Pottery Painting Studio)
Location: Inspired Pots, Hexham
Contract: Zero-hours (regular shifts available)
Pay: £13.00 to £14.50 per hour (depending on experience)

The role
We’re looking for a confident Front of House Floor Lead to take ownership of the studio floor during our busiest sessions. You will be the main point of contact on shift, helping customers feel welcome and making sure the studio runs smoothly, calmly, and to a high standard.
You’ll be shown our systems and ways of working, then trusted to run the floor confidently during busy sessions.
Shift pattern
- Typical shifts are 8 hours
- Saturday availability is essential
- Standard Saturday shift: 9:30am to 5:30pm (studio open 10:00am to 5:00pm), including a 30-minute lunch
- Additional shifts available during weekdays, school holidays and half term
- Occasional evening shifts for private bookings/events
Key responsibilities
- Opening the studio and preparing the front-of-house area for service
- Welcoming customers, checking bookings, seating tables and managing flow
- Delivering clear table introductions on the pottery painting process
- Taking payments and handling the till, including cashing up
- Taking drink orders, preparing and serving hot and cold drinks
- Handling customer questions and resolving issues calmly and professionally
- Keeping the front-of-house space clean, organised and well-presented
- Supporting and coordinating the team on shift, prioritising tasks as needed
- End-of-day close and closing procedures
What we’re looking for
- Strong customer service experience (hospitality, retail, leisure or similar)
- Confident communicator, comfortable guiding groups and families
- Calm under pressure, organised, and able to take responsibility on shift
- Reliable, proactive, and consistent with standards
- Comfortable using basic systems (iPad/till/booking software) and handling cash
- Right to work in the UK
- Ideally 21+
- Must be available Saturdays, with flexibility for weekday/holiday shifts
Progression
This is one of our first key hires as we grow Inspired Pots. Right now, we need someone excellent at front of house to support Megan (owner) and take ownership of the studio floor during busy sessions. Over time, as we expand opening hours and run more private events, we want to build a small, reliable team around the studio. For the right person, this role can grow into broader studio leadership (and potentially a Studio Supervisor or Manager role), but the core requirement today is strong front-of-house leadership.
Trial shift
We offer a paid half-day trial shift as part of the hiring process to make sure the role is a good fit on both sides.
